Evidence of Freedom

4.18.2013

...and some self-promotion.
I entered this lomography competition recently, hosted by Crimson Red Studios. The photographic theme is "evidence of freedom". Not the easiest subject and can most certainly be interpreted in many ways. You can view and like all the entries here. Obviously you should like mine as well...just to make sure you do, I will include my images below.
Thanks guys, go and like away...I could win a lot of money...and buy more Lomography cameras...

Crimson Red Studios opening

2.10.2013

We were fortunate enough to be invited to the opening party of Pretoria's new Lomography shop, Crimson Red Studios. We drank some wine, listened to good music by Late Night Fox, had interesting conversations with fellow-lomography-lovers, strutted our stuff in the photo-booth and generally felt like VIP's for a few hours.
Make sure you pay this shop a visit - I honestly felt like a kid in a candy store. Thanks to MariElsie and the rest of the Crimson Red team for their great hospitality on Friday night.

This is the band Late Night Fox. Really groovy local sounds.

Lomography shop in Pretoria

2.03.2013

Oh my golly gosh I am excited about this one. Pretoria is getting a Lomography shop! Most of you should know that I'm a huge Lomography fan and although 70 Juta street (an Embassy store) oozes with cool I am so glad that Snor City will finally stock some loved items.
The guys at Crimson Red Studios are bringing us this treat and they will have a Grand Opening on the 9th of February. There is also a huge Lomography photo competition with a R10 000 first prize!

So go get your Plastic Fantastic and start shooting. In analogue. Because you can.

A little lomo love

6.03.2012

I've recently developed some Lomography film and, as always, I am totally smitten with the graininess, double exposures, soft focus and light leaks of my Diana and Diana Mini. The colour photos here were taken with the Diana and remind me of this past summer (which feels like a lifetime ago). The black and whites were taken with the Diana Mini, set on "half-frame" mode - in other words you get 72 exposures from a 36 exposure 35mm film.
Once again, there were lessons to be learnt about both cameras really needing a lot of light to shoot and that the flash is not as bad and harsh as it would be with digital cameras.
Excursions, construction sites, lunches, parties...these cameras want to go with and document it all the time!
All of these were taken with slide film and cross-processed, hence the vivid colours.

Light leaks and double exposures

Here are a few random shots, taken with my lovely Diana F+. I am still in love with the beautiful mistakes she (and I) makes. This time I will try to give a short description / name to each photo. Enjoy.

Got my Lomography film back today. I fell in love all over again with the beautiful "mistakes", soft focus, double exposures and analogue-ness of my Diana.
