Photo Challenge - Yellow

2.26.2012

Hi everyone. This is the last week of the photo challenge over at Allison Lehman. I really had a lot of fun participating and the comments were always uplifting and positive. The other participants' photos were really good.
This week my husband helped a lot with "spotting" yellow objects - thanks liefie!

And herewith (for the last time) is my YELLOW submission:

Hope you all have a lovely week ahead - heading to beautiful Cape Town on Tuesday.
(PS, all photos were still taken with my iPhone and edited with Snapseed)

Sketchbook Tours

2.20.2012

On Saturday, 18 February, we had the most amazing first Sketchbook Tour. It is presented by Christo Harvey and Nicolene Louw. The itinerary is amazing - we met the morning at their studio for a short introduction and then headed off to Church square in a beautiful 1972-VW bus (incidentally the same one we used as a wedding car). We spent a few hours sketching, chatting to the locals and having a picnic. Then we went to the CBC Old Boys Bowling club where we sketched the bowlers in action. It was such a memorable day and everyone's sketches came out so nice in the end.
It made me realize again how important a sketchbook or visual diary is in any designer's thought process.
Here are some snippets of the day:

Nicolene Louw shared some valuable tips as well as some of her amazing sketchbooks with us.

There were some animated discussions afterwards and I know that every participant came back inspired. I love this page of graphic design graduate, Caroline Joubert. It made me think that Saturday made a change in all of us.

Visit the Platform on 18th site to see when the next Sketchbook Tour will take place. And book yourself a spot - you will not regret it.

Photo challenge - Grey

2.19.2012

Hi everyone, I hope your week was good. Did not get enough time for blogging - too many deadlines at work *sigh*!
Anyway, I did manage to get some grey shots for Allison Lehman's photo challenge. Only one more week left - YELLOW.
Go and see what the others have done with the RED submission - I must say there are so many talented phone-photographers out there.
So my friends, I hope you have a great week. Cannot wait to share some exciting things we did yesterday and looking forward to a very special date with another Pretoria blogger on Thursday! Will keep you posted.

Herewith my GREY collection:

Photo challenge - Red

2.11.2012

This photo challenge turned out to be so much fun. Strange how all of a sudden your eyes just see your assigned colour. The white submission went very well and I'm excited to see what everyone did with the red submission. Next week will be GREY.

And herewith my version of RED:

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Details of a rainy day

2.05.2012

Days like these are perfect. And this being on a Sunday makes it even more special. Because you can sense with your entire being that nature is taking a deep breath.
There is nothing more beautiful than a raindrop capturing perfect light, the smell of wet soil, the sound of raindrops on a steel roof.

All these photos were taken in and around our apartment.

Photo challenge - White

2.02.2012

I'm taking part in Allison Lehman's photo challenge for February. Basically, you have to take four pictures a week with your mobile phone camera. Each week, there is a different colour theme. This week was white. Read more about it here.

To focus on one colour really opens your eyes for possibilities. Next week will be (just in time for Valentine's day) red. I will post my four photo's after each week on my blog as well and will let you know how it went...

Here is my version of WHITE:

All photos were taken with my i-phone and edited with Snapseed and/or Instagram.

Harvest

2.01.2012

There are only a few things as rewarding as putting a ripe red one in your mouth. Because yes, you've been looking at this miracle of nature for a few months now, watching it grow from a seed, only consuming enough water and giving you the gift of these perfect, delicious, round tomatoes.
Come on, plant some food today!
