Details of a rainy day

Days like these are perfect. And this being on a Sunday makes it even more special. Because you can sense with your entire being that nature is taking a deep breath.
There is nothing more beautiful than a raindrop capturing perfect light, the smell of wet soil, the sound of raindrops on a steel roof.

Overwhelmed

This week, I am at a bit of a loss for words. Two things happened, I wanted to post about it and found myself sitting in front of the computer with nothing. Nothing to write, nothing to say because everybody said it. And I think it is fine, it's enough.
The first event was the passing of Steve Jobs and the second was the amazing Coldplay concert on Saturday. I think my words will spoil the emotions associated with both.
In the meantime I'm trying to survive the circus called the Building Industry, forever kicking, screaming and fighting. Sometimes it's just too exhausting.
So, I took a picture of the sunset this evening. Yes, to feel better. And yes, I did. So in a very cheesy way I would like to share it with you. It's like a promise that these crazy days will also pass and that everything will be fine in the end. Okay now, enough cheesy-ness for one evening.

What I love about living here

This is the list. It will most probably change and expand, but let's start with this...

• The way the city glows after a perfect African thunderstorm.
• Saturday morning coffee at Tribeca (Hopefully they will update their site soon)

• Walking to the corner cafe instead of taking the car.
• Sunnyside street fashion (more about that later)
• Cafe Riche on Church Square. Amazing space with a rich history.
• Skyscraping - a new-found adventure where we try to access rooftops of tall buildings. Amazing vantage points.

• Toni's Pizza. According to me, the best in the world. Go and see for yourself.
• Discovering hidden gems in the city: Beautiful International style buildings, details, history, people.

• Off-the-beaten-track and Vintage shops like Bell Bottoms in Pierneef Street.
• Food markets. Hazelwood food market and the old favourite, Die Boeremark.
• The mild winters we have here.
